Last month [April 2015] was a busy month for us. The first two weekends of the month we spent at home working. To treat ourselves after the busy weeks, we decided to have a short escape to celebrate our 2nd anniversary 🙂
We wanted a place where we can chill and relax but that isn’t too far and does not require us to have to worry about getting there. I did some research and The Royale Chulan hotel seemed to be a good option because of it’s unique traditional Malay Design (we love all traditional building/decoration), has a swimming pool with a view of the Twin Towers, a famous spa center and most importantly it is centrally located in heart of KL (only 30 minutes drive from home) but at the same time secluded from the busy street.
I made my booking via Expedia.com as usual and requested the room to be decorated with anniversary theme 😉
The Check -in
It was very smooth and fast. Receptionist was friendly and we also got a free room upgrade to the executive suite which is 3 times bigger than our original room. What good news! #LuckyDay
We stayed at the executive suite – One bedroom suite with Living Room [70 sq.m]
Very spacious for only the two of us and we were very happy about it. In total there are 4 areas of the room: separate dining area, living room, bed room and bathroom.
When you enter the room, you’re in the dining area. Right beside the door is the mini bar complete with mini fridge, water heater, ice cube holder, wine glasses and complimentary coffee and tea.
There is also a small dining table set where we had our dinner. I like this area as we spent quite some times here. The wooden furniture is strong and the wooden room partition is very beautiful. Again, we are fond of wooden furniture and traditional style decor.
Next is the living room which has a 32 inch LCD TV, 3-seater sofa, lounge chair, and desk.
The super comfy lounge chair right behind the beautiful room partition
The desk that we barely touched 😀
Beside the TV is the sliding door that separate the living room and the bed room. There are built-in drawers and another LCD TV in the bed room right in front of the bed as well as a make up table. As you can see from photo below the bed frame is another piece of elegant wooden crafted furniture and the bed & pillows are very comfortable.
Last but not least is the bathroom area. Separate rain shower and toilet side by side.
Bathtub was specially decorated with rose petals 🙂
The Swimming Pool
The size of the swimming pool is decent. Beside the main pool, there is a Jacuzzi and childrens’ pool. I would recommend that you sit nearby the shower area at the pool so that you could see a glimpse of the Twin Towers. The best time to enjoy the pool are is in the evening around 6-7pm while the sun is not too hot yet you still have the light to enjoy the view.
I strongly recommend The Telaga Bunga Spa. After a tiring day touring the city or shopping, getting a massage and spa here really could give you an energy recharge. Very professional masseuse and the massage room includes a separate shower, toilet and bath tub. No need to get out from the massage room in case we need to go to toilet, very convenient.
I have to admit that the Warisan restaurant where the buffet breakfast were serve are impressive. You can find all type of food you think off there. Japanese, Chinese, India, Western and Malay breakfast are ready to fill you up for the day. Wide selection really, no time to have the same dish twice. However, there is no bacon as it is a halal restaurant.
In my opinion this hotel is value for money, especially for foreigner who visited Malaysia for the very first time. They could feel Malaysia’s hospitality, tradition as well as its magnificence by staying here.
